GMail not deleting anymore #

seems GMail has implemented a nice delete button which seems to clash with the Greasemonkey user script "gmail delete button". Just right-click the monkey/Manage User Scripts... and Uninstall (don't forget to check the "Also uninstall associated preferences") the "gmail delete button" script, don't panic (:

On the move again #

OK if ya made it here you'll notice the new URL above, why did i do this ?
well i didn't do it to be annoying, really (: It's just that i got an email the other day from UK2 saying my account is about to run out. I bought a domain name (fuckcunttwat) and web-space (2.5gb, that's way to much) from them back when i had a credit card. Anyway my credit card well dead HEHE! and this caught me unawares (short of funds) so i will lose the web-space but if i can get £31 in me bank on Monday i'l be able to keep the domain name (fct) for a few years. Then i can just point it at any web-site i want, think i'll point it here. When i get some web-space (google may be doing this for free soon, fuck yeah!!) i'll just upload me site and point fct at that. Anyway because this is a blogger blog i had the option to host it free on blogspot.com, the only reason i hosted it on me site was (apart from the cool domain name) was to get rid of the blogger toolbar along the top but i've found that if ye put this:
#b-navbar{height:0px;visibility:hidden;display:none}
between ya style tags that is taken care of. You may also note that the "style swicher" buttons next to the comment links have gone, this is becausee they used external style sheets which (you guessed it) were on me web-space. Also my feeds still work as i use FeedBurner and when ya stie moves ye just login to FeedBurner and point ya feed at the new URL, how cool is that. Well i'm still on the net and i'm sure some web-space will pop up soon.

And there was no Love #

I stop at the lights lest a car impact me and rupture my organs
I eat the food lest my blood become bad and poison my form
I walk to get food lest (see above)
I sleep at night and wake at day lest my brain is dreamless and rots
I am polite to humans lest they attack and pierce my skin
I mix with them lest they think me strange and kill the vehicle in which i resides

I do this every day and have done since day one. Earth will produce another from the soil I become.

XP Gear #

When my PC misbehaves i like to wipe it and install everything again. When i'ved installed XP, done all the updates, got it working like i want, i go online to download all the progz i use. i know where everything lives on the net but i thought I'd put the list online anyway so anyone else can use it:

XP Gear

The programs i go for sometimes don't look the best but i really couldn't give a flying fook what it looks like if i don't work (Democracy). Enjoy (:

The Breakfast Club #

The Breakfast Club

OK i saw the name Ally Sheedy and i remembered she was in The Breakfast Club and i wondered if Winona Ryder was in it. So i popped over to IMDB to see if she was in it, she wasn't but that was my first The Breakfast Club contact this week. Next Jawbone Radio talked about The Breakfast Club in this weeks episode, OK that's weird. Guess what's on BBC1 on Saturday. OK this is scary, i don't know what this means, now i gotta watch it. Maybe i'm going to find the answer to life, the universe and everything in it (:

*edit 1*
OK today bored just looking for a new module for me google/ig page and what do i find:
http://www.google.com/ig/directory?start=48
you tell me, 4 BC contacts in one week, it's got to mean something
*edit*

i'v made some useful cards for when you just can't be bothered listening to the tedium.

The pic below is a link to the card.doc file, Right-Click/Save Link As... then Print/Cut-Out/Dispense.

maybe you could make some of you own (:

What is Podcasting (how do I do it)? #

OK I keep getting asked, so I’ll tell ya (:

First let me give you the information: PODCASTING HAS NOWT TO DO WITH THE IPOD, it just in the name. You don’t need to have an account with iTunes or an Apple to be a podcaster, got that… cool.

basics
The very basics of Podcasting are a few media files (you know ya mp3s or vid files) and a xml file, that’s it. You could start a podcast with just two things, a mp3 file and a xml file, that’s it, you’re and podcaster. You would need a place to host um. A xml file is just a file that points to ya media files and that’s what people use in their “podcast downloading software” to download ya podcasts.

podcast downloading software
Podcast downloading software is sometimes called “podcast aggregators” or “podcatchers” you get the idea, it’s a program that looks at ya xml file, sees what’s new and asks the user if they wanna download the new stuff or it can be done automatically, most people download overnight and wake up to 20 new shows to watch in the morning, cool. I use Fireant, it’s a bit buggy but it’s the best of all the free ones out there right now.

The xml file
This is my xml file (http://www.fuckcunttwat.com/shite/index.xml):

As you can see it’s not that hard to work out, when I do a new podcast I just add another
above the last one and upload it to my web-space (overwriting the old one). Lets have a look at the item tag:

pod shite 06 - canal

OK you would do:

title and number of the podcast

A little description on what the file is

Make sure you type it out right, mine didn’t work at first coz I didn’t use a capital W on Wed in the
tag, it’s that strict. Use my file above and change everything to your info (podcast title, podcast web-site link, podcast description) then just start adding new
tags. Then you just tell people where the file is online, basically that’s your podcast feed (what people give to their podcatchers). That’s not so hard is it (:

Soooo you need:
media + a xml file
They need:
podcast downloading software
Easy (:

OK let’s get down to it
i found there are two ways of doin’ it:

the way if you own web-space (paid)

or

the free way (oh yes)

Way if you own web-space
Just make a folder on your web-space (http://www.mywebspace.com/podcast/) and upload you media files and edit your xml file to point to them and upload that to. That’s it, now people just point their podcatching program at ya xml file and when you upload something new it downloads it from your space to their PC. I found this way OK for audio coz mp3s aint that big, I aint putting video files on my web-space.

the free way
OK this is what you wanted to hear, LOL. I started the London Video Podcast, I just use the video function on me little digi-cam but even then the videos (Mp4s) are big. I then use video editing software to edit, resize and convert (into wmv). Still the video file are big (I got one 60mb). There no way I’m sticking 60mb file on my web-space, my bandwidth allocation would run out pretty quick (don’t even think about use some free web-space site, I just wouldn’t work). Well I think I may of found a nice way to do it free, ingredients needed:

Blogger account (for the website and a link to your feed)
Ourmedia + Internet Archive account (used to store ya video files online)
FeedBurner account (for you podcast feed so you don’t have to edit a xml file)
YouTube account (so people can just watch ya videos on the site, nice)

Blogger
You don’t have to de any silly layouts like I did, just the normal templates will do. What you do need though is the rss feed to the blog (this is what FeedBurner will use).

FeedBurner
When you get ya FeedBurner account make sure you check the “I’m a podcaster” check-box, this tell FeedBurner to only look for links to media files in you blog posts. You will have to fill out a few forms but they all straightforward. This is the Blogger post template that I use:

-------- text of the post (with links and logos) --------

-------- name of the wmv file --------

[

-------- size of the wmv file --------

MB]
FeedBurner then just uses the link to ya media:

As your feed which people use in their podcatchers, it will be something like:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/LondonVideoPodcast
I then just take out all the white space and returns so it’s just one line, like:

I asked me mate on MySpace what she would like to see of London and she said “just all the alleyways and stuff”. So I got drink last night and went out on me bike (probably a bit unsafe) and shot some alleys. (:

ally.wmv [33 MB]
And publish it to me blog. OK that’s the web-site and feed sorted, what about the online storage.

Ourmedia + Internet Archive
Get yourself an Internet Archive account then an Ourmedia account using the same name and password than the Internet Archive. Ourmedia uses Internet Archive to store ya video file then gives you a link to the stored file that you would use your blog / podcast. If the file you are uploading is bigger that 10mb (it probably will be) you should use the Ourmedia Publisher. It can be a bit buggy in that your file appears on Internet Archive but not on Ourmedia, in that case just log on to Internet Archive and search for the name of your file and use the link from there. It can be slow but as they’re storing ya video files online for free who’s complaining.

YouTube
Get an YouTube account then upload ya videos and YouTube will convert um into Flash which you can then embed in ya blog so people who don’t use podcatching software can watch it on the blog. And it’s free to.

So if ya got a little digi-cam with video there’s no reason not to become a video podcaster (:

BlogMad #

Need an invite to BlogMad (blog trafficking site) ?
just mail me and i'll send ya one (:

Meet the Net #

Well i had a mad day. The other week i got an e-mail from the always nice SCHRmm tellin' me to get over to The Foundry today (Feb 28) as she was opening a project there today. Very cool stuff...

Not For Sale
The brand chooses you. SCHRmm explained it to me like say everyone wanted Nike but you could only have um if Nike choose you, cool grenades in this case. So pop over to The Foundry and on the stairs you will find a post-box with some cards, put on the card why you think you should get a grenade and if SCHRmm thinks you deserve one, you'll get one (she likes my nice blog so i may be in there LOL). SCHRmm is then going to make a book from all the cards, top idea.

Anyway that's the plug (: i had been filming this all day and as i was filming it i was freezing but excited (i mean it was a pancake race in the middle of London) so i didn't think of warping up and i got a cold / hot head / whatever. So I bit ill I thought I better go to lend support and all that (I was invited after all). Tube journey, Old Street, found The Foundry (had been looking for it all day as I was filming the pancake race, couldn’t find it but found well quick this time). Outside and was a bit wiggy (I was even gonna go back home, silly) so I just put me hood up (hiding from the world thing, gotta love hoods).Went in and ask the barmaid where the person who is putting the NOT FOR SALE thing on was, she pointed SCHRmm out (well she pointed at a table full of girls with long hair and said “the girl with long hair” HEHE). I first went to sign a card, not gonna tell ya what I wrote coz it might not come true. Went back to introduce me self. Tapped the nearest gal on the shoulder and asked where SCHRmm was, she got her attention and I leaned over and said “hi, I’m johnie1”, I expected a strange look on her face, maybe backing away but no what I got was a massive smile (really made my week) and she pounced up and ran around her mate to come and get a hug (I like peeps who hug, you can tell a lot about a person from and hug). So here was I, a stranger from the net and yet I don’t think SCHRmm felt to odd. I think it’s the best way to meet people coz none of that looks perception thing goes on. You really can get to know someone through just their words, and it is funny meeting someone for the first time who sort of knows your life story. Anyhoo I didn’t stay long (wimp) but that was the first time I ever meet a “net” human (they do exist).

While there meet a nice gezza Jay and his girlfriend (forgot her name), she lived in Camden so me got the bus back with um and it turns out he frequents Squat Juice maybe I know everybody in London without realizing it.

Woke up today feeling better with a hangover, think I’ll go get some Camden Noodles.

So ladies and gentlemen don’t be to afraid of meeting net people, there are some “nice” people on the net to (:
