Fast (CLI) posting to twitter with cURL and identi.ca

i got sick of not having a fast way to post to twitter. Twitter, it seems, doesn't like external programs posting anymore. i used to use Pwytter Portable but that seemed to have died. There is Echofon but that stopped working with twitter a while back and they didn't fix it for months, also it's a Firefox addon and the less things to slow down firefox the better.

i'm a bit of a joiner and when the micro-blogging thing was taking off i made an identi.ca account. It's just like twitter, maybe better, it's just twitter was the one to take off.

It is dead easy to add a twitter account in the identi.ca settings, so anything posted on identi.ca is cross posted to your twitter account, cool.

The reason i'm going on about identi.ca is i found this. You used to be able to post to twitter from all sorts of places but as they want you on the site (so they can advertise at you), they put a stop to most of them.

Make an identi.ca account, link it to your twitter account, get cURL (i used: Win32 7.23.1 binary SSL enabled Dirk Paehl), stick it in a folder:

As you can see, a simple batch file. The /P in

set /P tweet=Tweet what:

opens a prompt window:

assigning what you type in to tweet, it's then posted in: status="%tweet%"

Don't forget to change YourIdenticaUsername:YourIdenticaPassword to your identi.ca username and password.

It's fast, you don't have to open a browser, log on to any web-site or any of that crap. You have a thought, click the shortcut (linked to post.cmd), type what you want, press enter and BOOM! it's done, it takes seconds.

It's quick and dirty but i like it (:

i was recently forced into the company of humans for a while. This place is mandatory attendance for the unemployed and i had to sign in. Most times in front of the signing in book there was an unemployed person standing there trying to figure out how to write their name. i would wait patiently.

One day there was a man standing in front of the book, leaning on it, talking to the receptionist, he wasn't signing in. When i want a member of the human race to pay attention to those around it and maybe move aside so other human can pass, i ask politely, in not a loud voice but by no means a low voice, "excuse me". i never put aggression into it or weakness, i am simply asking a human to move aside for a moment in a firm but polite voice.

As this man wasn't signing in i said "Excuse me Sir", at that he raised the volume of his voice at the bit in his sentence where he said "...my father died" turning to look at me. Lighting fast the thought flashed into my mind *Good, then he can't breed any more retards like you*. i couldn't help but smile at this thought my brain had come up with and he said, "What are you laughing at?". He hadn't turned his body or anything, it was impotent rage. Thinking his dead dad gave him the power of entitlement. i just kept on smiling, didn't even look at him. Signed in (he had moved at this point, he actually moved straight away) smiling all the time and walked away to get coffee.

i promises you there was no aggression in my voice or anything, i can make "Excuse me Sir" sound friendly but disinterested.

Later in the day i thought of a new superhero called "My Dad's Dead Man", his superpower, his dad died that day. Bank robbers holding hostages, police standoff, flying in he would land in front of the bank, cape flappin', and shout to the robbers, "MY DAD DIED TODAY, YOU MUST COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!". Drug deal gone wrong, machine guns blazing from both sides of a warehouse, he would land in the middle, both sides stop and like WTF? "MY DAD'S DEAD, YOU MUST GIVE YOURSELVES UP!".

Firefox: Foobar Controls for a dark theme

i love the Foobar Controls add-on for Firefox by Ben Basson. As you can see from the above pic i like the dark themes. Although it's a cool add-on the buttons are a bit flat, this post will tell you how i got the dark theme 3D buttons for this add-on.

i did a Google search for dark foobar buttons and i found this: Foobar2000 Buttons by sawb (site), a nice set of dark theme buttons for foobar.

After installing the Foobar Controls add-on i had to change the buttons to go with my dark theme. As i had a set of cool dark buttons i looked in the add-on folder (C:\Documents and Settings\your user-name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\extensions\{weird number}\chrome\content\) and found foobar.png. It's a single pic with all the buttons on, cool all i had to do is change this pic... right?... no. The "Foobar2000 Buttons" were bigger than the ones in the foobar.png so this would need a bit of work.

Looking in foobar.css in the add-on folder i saw that it points too foobar.png and i realized i could use Stylish (or you could use your userChrome.css) to override this, cool. i fired up Photoshop and put the Foobar2000 Buttons on foobar.png all equally spaced out and saved it as foobar2.png:
(use this one if you want as i've done all the work (:, right-click/Save Link As...)

Put foobar2.png in the add-on folder, this is cool as you don't even have too change the original foobar.png, CSS is cool. An important note is when the Foobar Controls add-on updates you will need to put the foobar2.png back in the add-on folder as updating deletes it, as we are using Stylish to use this png the update doesn't effect the code. This is the code i put in a new style in Stylish:

Through trial & error i discovered i just had too add 4 to a few pixel values to accommodate the larger buttons, you can use this code, if it works cool, if not just play with numbers until it looks good, it's not hard.

Firefox Lock-down

Zapping around the internet these days is nasty business, you have to assume every site you visit wants to track you (or help their partners track you) or infect your PC. Here are a few things i do to make my FF a bit more secure and private:

NoScript

Of course the first one is the great NoScript, you know what it is. Doesn't allow sites to run java-scripts unless you allow them. Simple and it works.

CookieSafe

CookieSafe is the NoScript for cookies, no site is allowed to place cookies on your PC unless you allow them. A lot of companies track your browsing habits though the use of cookies and partner companies web-sites. They say they profile you to better serve you ads but who knows what they do with these profiles of you.

i have come across a few sites that do not work unless you let them place a cookie on your PC, they go into a weird loop where as soon as you arrive at the site your browser is redirected to a "no cookie" script which then redirects to another page (probably because you haven't allowed scripts for this site) which then loops back to the no cookie page, it is stupid to see. Any site that forces you to accept a cookie just to view the site is dodgy.

If you join a site, say... You Tube then of course you are going to let YT put a cookie on ya PC, it's how it knows it's you when you log on, but just to look at a site (not join) then it wrong. Whenever i get to a site like that (cookie needed just to view site) i stop, copy the URL and put it in my hosts file thereby making it impossible for my PC to ever go to that site again (more on the hosts file later).

BetterPrivacy

This is where cookies get really nasty, in XP look in: "C:\Documents and Settings\your user-name\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\random code\", oh look cookies, WTF are these (other locations here). These are flash cookies or "Local Shared Object" (that's a nice name isn't it). These are cookies that any site that uses flash can put on your PC, i only found out about these recently and i was shocked, all this time i was blocking HTTP cookies and every site with flash on (and some without flash) were planting these cookies all up in my PC.

Just as i started this post i went to PortableApps for a little look at what was going on over there, funny new app, Billy Mays Caps Lock 1.0, lol cool, on that page that was a link to John T. Hallers blog. On his blog i found this, Warning: AddThis Puts Flash Tracking Objects on Your Website. You have got to be kidding me, i use AddThis (it's the little icon down there below this post with the plus sign on), well i used to, that icon used to be red, now it's blue because i now use AddToAny instead of AddThis. ClearSpring bought AddThis and used it (it is java-script after all) to plant LSOs (Local Shared Objects/flash cookies) on the PCs of anyone who visits a web-site using the AddThis widget. It is a coincidence that on the very day i start to make a post about how nasty flash cookies are i find out my own blog has been planting them on peoples PCs without my knowledge, ClearSpring are worms.

Anyway back the the subject, BetterPrivacy dose not, like CookieSafe, block LSOs, it lets flash cookies get planted. What it does is delete those cookies when you open/close Firefox. Unless these cookies stay on your PC permanently they are useless (:

Man, i am so pissed off about ClearSpring/AddThis. Seriously, ClearSpring are fucking dodgy cunts.

RefControl

i like this one. When you go to a web-site it knows what site you came from by using the HTTP referrer header. This could be use to track you browsing habits by a site.

RefControl lets you set which site the site you visit thinks you came from, i set mine to the Wikipedia Referrer spoofing page so now every site i visit thinks i came from that page :D

It can break on some sites but RefControl let you set sites you trust to see the normal referrer.

Stylish + Ad Blocking FiltersetP

i don't use Adblock Plus as i always have Stylish installed and Ad Blocking FiltersetP does the same job without the overhead of having another add-on installed.

SSL Blacklist

This one just informs you if a site uses the unsafe MD5 algorithm for RSA signatures.

hosts file

Not really Firefox but the hosts file is a useful little chap, in XP it is in: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\. As you know all site have a IP address. When you put www.google.com into your browser it uses DNS to tell which IP address is associated with www.google.com.

It used to use the hosts file (when the internet wasn't that big that all the web-site addresses could fit in a text file). Your browser still looks at your hosts file first before DNS. If you haven't edited it it should just have: 127.0.0.1 localhost (this is your PC and you shouldn't mess with this line). 0.0.0.0 is an invalid IP address so if i put: 0.0.0.0 www.google.com in the hosts file and typed www.google.com into Firefox it would look in the hosts file (before DNS) and see it as an invalid IP and not go there.

So you could put in something like: 0.0.0.0 ads.example.com, you can still go to www.example.com, Firefox just would not (could not) connect to their ad server so no ads. You can google around for lists of nasty sites to copy/paste into your hosts file.

It's hard work surfing the internet these days but i hope these few things make it a bit safer/private for you (:

about:config tweeks i like to make

Here's a few about:config hacks i like to do (typing about:config into the addressbar of Firefox and you will get to a page where you can change a lot of the FF preferences):

browser.xul.error_pages.enabled - true
When browsing a page with a lot of pix on it i usually middle click the pix (to open the pic in a new tab) to look at after i have read the page. If for some reason one of the pix fails to load FF snaps me to that tab with a dialog box, not just any dialog box but a modal dialog box. A Modal dialog box freezes FF until you click OK or something, very annoying. This setting changes it from a dialog box to an error page, more importantly it doesn't snap you from the page (tab) you are on to the error tab so you can go on reading the page you are on even if a pic didn't load.

extensions.newAddons - false (right-click and make this Boolean preference if it is not there, it probably won't be there)
This one stops the add-on manger popping up after you restart after installing an add-on. So annoying, "Yes Firefox, i know i just installed an add-on, thank you very much".

browser.tabs.closeButtons - 2
This one takes the close (X) off the tabs. i middle-click (scroll wheel) links to open them in a new tab and i middle-click the tabs to close them, i don't need the X.

browser.tabs.tabMinWidth - 72
The default for this one is 100. It sets how small the tabs can be (in pixels) before scroll arrows appear on the right of the tab bar. The add-on FaviconizeTab helps here as you can set it to shrink certain site tabs down to the favicon, a lot of sites don't give very useful information in the tab text so shrinking them down to just the icon saves space.

noscript.firstRunRedirection - false
Stops the page loading after a NoScript update. There was quite a little war about this recently.

view_source.editor.external - true

view_source.editor.path - V:\PortableApps\Notepad++Portable\Notepad++Portable.exe
Set to true then specify the path to the editor you want to use when you right-click/View Page Source on a web-page.
As i run my FF portable always from a truecrypt container mounted to the V:\ drive i set my path to the very cool Notepad++, you can set it to whatever editor you would like to use.

browser.urlbar.maxRichResults - 0 (default = 12)
Turns the "awesome bar" off. Whenever i try to change anything in the URL bar my FF freezes and the HD start working hard, this is the awesome bar doing it's thing. The first thing i do with a new FF install is remove the search toolbar as i use Quicksearches so i type in the URL bar a lot and the awesome bar freeze is very annoying.

This post is also a reference for me. i have been using the same install of FF for about two years now because it is portable and i can just copy it around to new PCs. If i ever did need to make a new FF install it's nice to have a place to reference all the tweeks i made, these are my main ones.

On a side note i am making this post from my iGoogle page with a cool little Google Gadget called Blogger, it's so simple, there is even a Friendfeed gadget. My iGoogle page is looking very cool now, i can even read my mail from there, sweet.

whilst your email made me laugh, the truth is that you obviously need to get some employment of any kind just to break your depression, and the cycle you find yourself in.
Some tips ( if your vaguely interested)
Work on your CV, capital letters etc and for someone of your age and experience a single side of A4 just doesn't cut it.
Your a better person than that.

i'm not one for looking into the past but i found two lost streets under the housing estate i live on (Curnock Street Estate). i was playing with a Google Earth overlay called Rumsey Historical Maps. This takes old maps and overlays them onto your Google Earth, warping them into the correct placement.

This is my housing estate in GEarth.

This is the map with the B.R. Davies 1843 London map overlay.

There you have it, Archer Street and Queen Street. i always thought there would be an old street under here called Curnock Street, seems logical.
It is a beautiful map, amazing detail. B.R. Davies seemed to working under the supervision of the "Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge", how cool is that name.

i wondered about those lost streets, the people who were born, grew up, and died calling them home. A few google searches later turned up A London Policeman's arrest book, funny. Of interest here is Henry Lealand of 50 Archer St fined £30 for Street Betting in 1920 and Alfred Pierce of 49 Queen St bound over for Frequenting Premises in 1920, seems Alfred was under 18 in a pub, made me smile.

i found few more references to the streets and i could of gone on searching but as i said, i am not really one for looking back. i suppose now those two streets are a little less lost because of this blog post (:

The fox in that pic BTW is the Japanese Firefox mascot Foxkeh, i've got an avatar of him in SL, very cool, everyone smiles when they see me (even the people on Microsoft Island, lol).

i discovered a very nice security side effect from the post below (especially for laptops). In the first paragraph i talked about how Pidgin stores all your IM passwords in plane text (in XP look in "C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\.purple\accounts.xml" to see for yourself), not good. Also Firefox and it's remembered passwords, let me paint a really bad picture for you. You lose you laptop, hopefully you have everything backed up but what about all your info on it. The theft/finder connects to the internet with it and goes to http://mail.google.com and look, he is logged on to your google account, eek. Then he goes to Facebook/MySpace, sees the log-on e-mail, clicks "Forgot Password" and gets your Facebook/MySpace password sent to your GMail address, now he has you Facebook/MySpace accounts. Thunderbird for all your pop3 accounts. You can see how someone with access to your laptop could really mess up your on-line life.

In the last paragraph of the post below i said how i have backed up the truecrypt encrypted file (v) on my desktop PC, well i got to thinking, in that file are "portable" versions of Pidgin/Firefox/Thinderbird. These version are no different that the standard versions except they are made to run everything from one folder. FirefoxPortable and ThunderbirdPortable even update the same as the standard versions. Your Firefox profile is in the same folder as FirefoxPortable, same with the PidginPortable (including the plane text password file), all from one folder.

i showed how easy it is to use a *.cmd file to mount a truecrypt volume and run a program and i thought why don't i just have my shortcut to say... Pidgin point at a *.cmd file to mount/run instead of pointing at the installed program. So now i have runP.cmd (Pidgin), runFF.cmd (firefox), you get the idea.

This is runP.cmd:

IF EXIST v:\StartPortableApps.exe GOTO runProg

TrueCrypt /v v /l v /m rm /a /q

:runProg
start /Dv:\PortableApps\PidginPortable\ PidginPortable.exe

exit

The "IF EXIST" line is easy to understand, if "v:\StartPortableApps.exe" exists (which it only could if the V:\ drive is already mounted) then bypass the TrueCrypt mount line and GOTO ":runProg" which just runs the start Pidgin line. If "v:\StartPortableApps.exe" doesn't exists it runs the TrueCrypt mount line, simple. That's how i do it because i use my USB back-up file.

solution for safety

This is what i was thinking for laptop users. Make a folder in C:\Program Files\ called something like unsafePrograms (obviously you would call it something else but for this example i'll call it that).

Download truecrypt and run, pick extract and copy TrueCrypt.exe, TrueCrypt Format.exe, truecrypt.sys and truecrypt-x64.sys to "C:\Program Files\unsafePrograms\", that's TrueCrypt in "traveler mode", i.e. portable. Run TrueCrypt.exe and make an encrypted file called something like "programs", 500MB should be OK (you can make a bigger one later if need be), don't matter where you make it, you can copy to unsafePrograms later. You can delete "TrueCrypt Format.exe" now, that was just there so you could create the "programs" file.

Now download the portable programs you want (Pidgin, Firefox, Thinderbird). Run the *.(paf).exe files, when they ask where to install to, browse to ya desktop (remember these are portable programs, they can run from anywhere, you can copy them anywhere).

All extracted now run TrueCrypt.exe and mount the encrypted file "programs" as P:\ (p for programs, of course pick your own drive letter). Copy all the folders from the desktop to the P:\ drive (P:\PidginPortable\, P:\FirefoxPortable\, P:\ThunderbirdPortable\). Now unmount the P:\ drive.

Make C:\Program Files\unsafePrograms\unmount.cmd:

@echo off

TrueCrypt /d p /q

exit

to quickly unmount truecrypt volumes (change p if you picked another drive letter).

Now make three quick *.cmd files...

Thunderbird (runTB.cmd):

IF EXIST P:\ThunderbirdPortable\ThunderbirdPortable.exe GOTO runProg

TrueCrypt /v programs /l p /m rm /a /q

:runProg
start /DP:\ThunderbirdPortable\ ThunderbirdPortable.exe

TrueCrypt /v programs /l p /m rm /a /q

:runProg
start /DP:\FirefoxPortable\ FirefoxPortable.exe

Pidgin (runPID.cmd):

IF EXIST P:\PidginPortable\PidginPortable.exe GOTO runProg

TrueCrypt /v programs /l p /m rm /a /q

:runProg
start /DP:\PidginPortable\ PidginPortable.exe

Now just make shortcuts to the *.cmd files (right-click on a *.cmd file and drag & drop to the desktop, pick "Create Shortcuts Here"). Pidgin icon, Thunderbird & Firefox icons (direct links).

Now you switch on ya laptop, click the Firefox icon, you get asked for a password, give it, and firefox runs. Now if you want to run Thunderbird or Pidgin you will not be asked for a password because the p:\ drive is already mounted. Switching off the laptop unmounts the P:\ drive.

OK now lets look again the the nasty picture i painted before. A theft nicks ya laptop, runs it and sees the Firefox icon, his little mind lights up thinking of all your accounts he is going to own. he clicks the icon and is like WTF, why is firefox asking for a password, weird. OK he sees the Pidgin icon so he thinks he owns all your passwords, goes and has a look at "C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\" but finds no ".purple" folder so he clicks the icon, again he is asked for a password. He right-clicks the shortcut, goes the the folder it points to and sees TrueCrypt.exe and understand he is never going to see any of your stuff, all he can do now is format the laptop and start again. It's bad you lost your laptop but you can feel safe in the knowledge all your accounts are safe.

i just had a cool thought, you could make a *.cmd file to run all these programs, like "runEVERY.cmd":

My USB thumb drive is cool. i just recently encrypted the whole thing (well 3.50GB of the 4.00GB), i had it unencrypted for a long time and i didn't install a few plugins in Portable Firefox because of this, if i had lost the drive, the finder would have had access to all me passwords (including this blogs password) as i am quite lazy and let Firefox remember all my passwords. Pidgin stores it's password file in plain text so the finder would also have had all my IM passwords, not good.

Desktop to begin with.

The USB drive is U3 which means it pretends to be a CD when plunged in so it can autorun. i have set it to autorun a *.cmd file (XP *.bat file) so it can run a few commands. When you plug in a U3 drive there is actually two drives. the CD drive and the data drive, i installed SmithTech App Launcher (ISO for U3 drives) on the "CD" drive and set it to run "Gear/jGo.cmd" on the data drive.

This is jGo.cmd:

TrueCrypt /v v /l v /m rm /a /q
CMD /c V:\Gear\vRUN.cmd

exit

As you can see this runs truecrypt (in traveler mode) to mount an encrypted file called v as drive V:\ (i chose V:\ as i heard some people change all their CD drives to something like X,Y or Z so no matter how many HDs/USB keys they attach to their PC their CD letters never get messed up, V:\ seemed like a drive letter no one would choose).

jGo.cmd running truecrypt which is asking for the password.

Once the volume is mounted the next command runs another *.cmd file (vRUN.cmd) on the V:\ drive.

This is vRUN.cmd:

As you see this just runs StartPortableApps.exe (XrX Portable Apps Menu Mod) and RKLauncher.exe, (backup.exe is remarked out, more on what that is later). i could put a lot more commands in there if i wanted. That is the good thing with running a *.cmd file as opposed to running a program (*.exe), lots of commands.

XrX Portable Apps Menu Mod running (it changes the XP wallpaper, cool) with the very nice Moonito 01 theme by jorgito (dA page).

Also runs a nice little OSX like menu thing called RK Launcher which is simple and handles relative paths nicely.

The bakup.exe program that doesn't run in vRUN.cmd is interesting, is is basically a bat file that runs a few programs to swipe Windows/IM/network passwords from the PC you plugged the USB key into, and copies them to a text file, it even copies the IE/Firefox history. It is based on the USB Switchblade from the podcast Hak5. It is a *.exe file because there is also a shortcut to it on the PortableApps Menu, one problem i found with the PA menu is it's can't run cmd/bat files so a quick google search found Bat_To_Exe_Converter.exe, name says it all.

To unmount the V:\ drive i made a unmount.cmd:

@echo off

TrueCrypt /d V /q

exit

Once unmounted all that is left is a 3.50GB encrypted file called v, with all me stuff safe inside it. Of course this file is backed up on my desktop PC so if i ever did lose the key i just get a new one and copy it onto that.

Here is a little tip i just made for getting a translation of a website you can not understand. On this google page you can drag the "1-click translations" buttons from the page to your "Bookmarks Toolbar" to get google to translate a page in just one click.

i just right-clicked on the toolbar and made a new folder, called it "trans" and dragged all the "*** to English" buttons into it. Now any site i get to i don't understand i can just click the trans folder and get a pulldown of all the languages, click the one the page is written in and google translates it, sweet (:

Digsby is nice. it's a multi IM client (like pidgin) but with a bit more. It gives you all ya updates from Facebook/MySpace, does e-mails. When they add twitter support (and make it portable) it will be perfect.

i love that your setting are saved online, i just install on a new PC, log on with my username/password and all my accounts/setting are remembered.

This is a nice touch, a little widget you can embed in ya blog or profile that people can use to chat with you from the site (i'll stick it in my every growing sidebar, i do love blog bling):

WOW you lucky people (well windows users anyway), FeedDemon is now free, very cool. i have been using this RSS reader for ages now, it just does it's job, not built-in media player crap (i have many players). It comes in two parts, FeedDemon (this is the part that checks the feeds to see if there are any new posts/podcasts, you can read blog posts here but if you are downloading podcasts (this is what i use it the most for) it will open FeedStation (this is the downloading part). From FeedStation you can download, double-click on it there and it will open in your player, when watched you can delete it from here. You can press the "Mark all feeds read" button in FeedDemon and close it and FeedStation will continue with the downloading. It real is very simple and now it's free. You can find most of my feeds here.

Society is around me and i function as best i can within it. i do not mug people, i do not rape people, i do not kill old ladies for their pension. Like all humans i have a nasty side and i have a nice side. i tend more toward my nice side. i hold open doors for people, if i see a bike locked to a lamppost that has fallen down i will stop my bike and pick it up. i help my neighbor carry her shopping up the stairs. i am sure you can see where this is going. Yes i am the nice neighbor who just snaps ("he was such a nice boy, it is hard to believe"). i understand this about myself and i stay in my flat quietly drinking myself to death.

i died a long time ago and the only one who cries my passing is me. i move now only on instinct.

Well i go to another world, another life i have, more specific... Second Life.OK, what is Second Life (SL)... the ultimate chat-room, a 3D virtual environment, a brave new world. You will just have to join and see what it is to you (it's free). But let me warn you, you do get "Very" drawn into it, one quote i heard was "if you don't have a first life, don't go in Second Life". i sometimes think i don't log on SL, rather i log OFF RL (real life).

Well i fleeted around being happy, discovered the sex ^_~. One night looking for a quick shag became a BDSM slave, did that for a while, became a runaway slave, did a sort of pilgrimage around SL looking into the different aspects of BDSM, Dolcett (murder/being eaten fantasies), Vampire, Ageplay (you can guess what that is), furries (not beastuality, being an animal in SL is something different), Gorean (BDSM lifestyle based on novels by John Norman) and many, many more.Don't get me wrong, i am no stranger to BDSM (online) i have "played" it in chat rooms but SL takes it to a strange new level. SL is FULL of it and the players take it very serious (a lot of them are D/s in RL).

Another side story related to that, i had 5 police people trying to break into my flat... i met a woman, we got on, she didn't reveal her RL much (a lot of people are like that in SL), that's OK (tho you do sometimes think it's a man with a female AV (avatar). Me i couldn't give a shit (in fact i just made a URL thing that spins above my AVs head which is a link to this blog). i told her about my blogs and she visited nice and wanted to make a comment, well instead of pressing the comment link she e-mailed me form her e-mail FROM HER OWN DOMAIN, which meant i just take the nikki@ from the front of her e-mail address and i have her personal family web-site (i really hate stupid people). i think this pissed her off (no my fault she is a fool) and may of twisted inside her how fucking stupid she had been, blaming me FFS. A few days later, just surfing the net, a lot of banging and people looking in my kitchen window, now when people knock on my door i usually just leave it, they go away eventually, these didn't. They started poking thing through my letterbox, here's me now panicking, who the fuck are these humans trying to get at me, bailiffs, a gang of estate "boys" who have decided to fuck up the "different" one, who the fuck knows, they were fucking humans IN MY FUCKING LIFE. So i pick up a F Clamp ready to brain some cunt, i leave it for a while then i shout "Who is it ?". The only answer i get is "Can you open the door". This goes on for a while, why the police did just identify themselves straight away i don't know, well fucking stupid. Anyway they say it's the police, will i don't let them in, i really don't give a fuck who you think you is, you is human so i ask them what they want, "it's about a web-site"...

a blog post. Yes you got it folks, the police are breaking into my flat over a post on my blog, WOW. This is what they do now, you write a depressing post and some fool calls the police AND THEY ACT ON IT. i open the door and there are 5-7 police people. just wow. Anyway she had phoned the police (how the fuck do you start a call like that) and "sent" them round. They ask if i am OK and explain about the blog post and i am like, WTF. i really was shocked that they act on stuff like this, i mean if they read Livejornal they would have no time to do any other crime solving. So they want to "come in and look around", and get this, this is what he said "in case you have someone in there". Thats it, in case i have someone tied up in my bath and i am cutting bits of their body off. i suppose the police have a nice buzz-word for someone like me, someone to keep an eye on, someone dead and yet still around. Not "stop-in", that's to easy, something like "enders", zombies, "at risk of killing. They just assume that coz i am sick of life and humans that as i just stay in my flat quietly dying my mind will turn to killing, coz i am a human i want to kill, i really do not think there has ever been a decent human on this earth. So i say that only one can come in, he does, sees i have no bodies lying around, nice that, i suppose that's why there was about 6 of them. All the time i am saying to them "you really just came to my flat over a blog post". They go.
i suspect she is a bit of a psycho and has MAJOR problems, you do not send the police around to someones house over a blog post, fucking sad. Anyway this is her family web-site (i have no problem sending you to her web-site, she sent fucking police to my flat), really fucked up woman. You know i think she might of just wanted to get on this blog, sort of impact her life on mine. People always want their life in yours, always want to effect the course of your life with theirs, i suppose it validates them.
P.S. if ye in SL stay away from "Watchme Stradling" and her alt AV, "Honey Soon", just save yourself the problems later on and stay the fuck away. And if you are reading this Nikki, get help and stay to fuck out of peoples lives.

SL taught me not to trust anyone online, i have met a lot of males playing female AVs (i once did it and had a nice lesbian night), lots od people who say they are one thing and are not. Voice has come to SL and that helps a bit but for the most part, whoever you met in SL, do not trust. Having said that i have met some nice people to (i think). Me, i am a Magpie now, everybody loves my AV and it brings a smile (:

i went for a bike ride today on my newly fixed bike named Hoax. i have always been a bike rider, since i was a wee one. Part of the reason i am wasting away (a big one) wanking to the internet is my bike has been fucked, sitting in my corridor. The bottom bracket (the bit that holds the peddles on) has always been i bit funny since i found her and one day it just "went". i bought the tool to remove it, i just didn't have the incentive (it takes a lot of strength you see). So i just went on the internet and started to waste away.

i look down a street upon which the sun shone, reflecting in a piece of sellotape which held a picture of a lost cat. The picture long gone.

On a site i met Hoax, we became good friends (sort of) then i made her cry, we had a falling out. It really shook me up in real life. i was pacing up and down my flat, heart racing, i had energy (to much). So i dragged my bike into the living room and took it out on that. What do ya know, i got the bottom bracket out. In a funny way she gave me incentive that just may save this worthless life yet. We are not friends on that site anymore ): Next week bought a new one, bingo, bike fixed.

i made a 21yo Romania girl cry today. i'm not proud of it, in fact i think it may have been one of the worst things i have ever done. i brought one of her worlds crashing into the other. It had quite an effect on me to, you see i was falling in love with her. She did not want to be loved and i did not want to love her. i cut off the limb before it got bad. As you can see from the post below i am not in the best health, mental or physical. i am in, what is called, a bad way. There is no thing i want from this world anymore, and no thing i want to give it. As you can see from the pic above, i am tired and after holding on tight for so long, i have released, letting my body start dying. The beautiful piano music does not lift me anymore.

i haven't moved out of this spunk covered nest for weeks, my arms and legs are getting thinner, my mind is falling into grades:
1) things i need to do to get cash to drink
2) things i need to do to wank off
3) things to distract me from death
The rain blows in through the open window, blowing all the stuff around, let it, i don't care. Electric and sperm are all i need.

This child's whole life has been freaked out by the fact it is going to die. It doesn't like the world and is filled with tears to be in it. Flames of dread are licking at my feet. My skin is rotting, diseases are coming in and taking hold and i don't really care. Let them have this body, i have no use for it anymore. i'm never gonna fuck again so there is no need for it to be disease free. Have your fun my friends.

This one has praised death it's whole life. The tears will not stop running as i write these words. One of the policemen who has to break into my squalid flat to find my corpse will ask "how can anyone live like this", not understanding, i was not alive. (1) - Tiny Evils
i noticed something when i was doing the homeless thing in London, all the voluntary worker (in the drop-in centers, hostels) do these little evil things to the homeless. Just small things, one thing was in the hostel i was staying in you had the buzz to get in, in reception someone pushed a button to unlock the door. One of the workers, every fucking time, pushed the button really fast so you didn't have a chance to open the door. You would have to buzz again, maybe again. He knew what he was doing. Why did he do that miserably, evil little thing ? Overall he was helping the unfortunate yet within that did these things...

(2) - Helen
Years ago i watched a documentary on the old days, one subject was abortion. One story: a midwife induced a aborted baby... after the mother had calmed down the family ask where the "baby" was. The midwife pointed to the fireplace. This was meant to show how in the old days they were not so sentimental about waste produce. What got me was that Helen agreed with it (and me). That was the first time (after a year together) that i looked at her as something more that i just fuck...

(3) - There are worlds between us
i have only 1 superpower, i detest all humans. Unfortunately that renders me as being unable to be surprised by them...

The worst words you can hear on the streets of London is "excuse me", my heart sinks. What tedium do i have to endure now ? What does this human want now ? i love XHTML, i love doing XHTML, i even love when i get a problem so i can spend hours trying to work it out. i started another blog over at http://psycho-button.blogspot.com/ and i wrote a post. It had a quote (blockquote) in it and i didn't like the way the quotes looked. i decided to use this trick but i couldn't get it working, a padding thing, feckin' ace, a problem i can play with. i was up all night, far to late, working on it and i still didn't fix it. Anyway as the post i was working on wasn't finished i saved (this morning) it as a draft and wrote a clean test post to work on. i just wrote the word test over and over again (big mistake) then the blockquotes then more text (repeated the word test). Well as i was typing (yes a human at the keyboard typing in) i noticed the "word verification" thing pop up below the input thing, oh fuckin' hell (i've been though this before). The google bot had found me and decided coz it saw a repeated word this blog was a spam blog, used to move a page up the google rankings. i couldn't give a flying fuck about google rankings. What i'm really pissed off bout was that i was in full flow, ya know, my brain was workin', all synapses firein'. i'd like to wring that scrawny little google bot by it's neck. i'm all for no spam blogs but i'm just pissed off, my great day of working this out was brought to a halt and now i have to wait till "some nice person" from google gets back to me so i can explain this, FUCK!!!

Talkin' bout spam. Some little spamming worm has decided my nice blog is a good target for comment spam. A blog that is designed to cheer people up and this human is using that, what a cunt. Well as you can tell from the paragraph above i hate "word verification" but i may have to turn it on. i never knew about "comment moderation" tho, it's pretty cool init. i get an e-mail when someone comments, i can accept or reject, nice (no pun). This idiot has the same text in the spam comment so it's e-mail filter time, i never see the the moderation e-mail about this spammer's comments, it gets binned straight away. The comment are probably made with a script (that's what word verification is for, to see if it's a human). So it's like this, the spammer's script goes to nice, makes a comment, a script on nice e-mail me then a script in my e-mail bins it. And around and around it's goes.

Anyway i'm just waiting for the google spam blog man ):

One of the most beautiful things i ever saw in Camden Town was a blind girl getting led around the market by her mother. Clutching to her white stick, held tight in front of her as if to protect her. Camden Market is a very noisy place and i always wondered what could of been going on in her head, what angels and demons did her imagination conjuring up. She looked like she was into it, like happy/pensive. Well today (Sunday 20th August 2006) i did a sort of "London Soundscape" thing, so i could close my eyes and try to imagine what she went through. Was she blind from birth so she wouldn't even know what a human looked like. i hope her day was filled with angels... Maybe a few demons ;)

The Old Watch

Half way up "Camden High Street" it is connected by "Pratt Street". i walk down "Pratt Street" to get to the shops and about a 2 years ago there was always an old red-faced Alcy (alcoholic) standing on the street, singing, talking to himself or shouting at passerbys. He was a friendly enuff sort, whenever i went by i usually said "ye al rite lad" and i usually got a "yeh yeh... *fade into gibberish*". Every day in the same place till one day he was there no longer, you know what happened. i sometime have a fear that this is what i will become, but hopeful, by then, i'll be out of the UK... Maybe an al drunk on Haiti. That was about 2 years ago and... Well another old drunk chap has appeared. In the same place. Odd, what is going on, why are old drunk men, at the end of their life, attracted to "Pratt Street" ? He's not beggin' (it's not a very good site for beggin' anyway), he just stands there the whole day drinking. Reminds me of the film Prince of Darkness, Alice Cooper and other "Gentlemen of the Street" are attracted to an old church in witch the devil is trapped.

The street parallel to "Camden High Street" is "Bayham Street" (intersected by "Pratt Street") on which this chap:

used the live with his Mom. He was always leaving magic around London and at the end of his life became quite mad.

Where "Pratt Street" connects "Camden High Street" it comes out the other side as "Delancey Street" and No.54 on this street used to be the residence of this chap:

An alcoholic of some note. Could this be the cause of the attraction, an alcoholic ley line betwixt Dylan Thomas and Charles Dickens.

Maybe it is some kind of "if there's not an alcy on "Pratt Street" the world will end" type thing. Is the balance of the universe keep in harmony by this sentinel, a singin', dancein' guardian of equilibrium. i can't ask him so we will never know.

As of today (11/7/2006) Microsoft has stopped support for Microsoft Windows 98 (Second Edition) which is a sort of a death bell for the venerable old OS. i for one would like to wish a fond farewell to 98SE. i have used it for years (i still use it on an old laptop) and it was one of the best things MS ever did. But it is very much showing it's age now and i think everyone should (by hook or by crook) upgrade to XP. But it did it's job and (looked after properly) did it well. My street (Camden Street) is two along parallel from Camden High Street and it's (was) petty quiet. Well i noticed (being a bit pervy) that Camden Street was very male, never any good lookin' chicks, just al' men going to the pub. There are some lovely big Victorian office buildings just over the road from me. They have been empty till just recently, well... "Hugo Boss" and "French Connection" moved in so as you can imagine the fit bird ratio of Camden Street just went up (i'm thinking of spraying on the "French Connection" front door "i think the word you're looking for is FUCK"). i can't look oot me window now without seeing a top model or a well good lookin' receptionist, HAHA you know. Now let me just say this is a normal road, there are no shops, just houses and a few office buildings.

i was out front fixing a bike up (which look out into the estate) and i see this lady come along all gold sequins and a very, very short skirt. She sort of hid round a corner and took off her jacket (gold sequins), put it in her (gold sequins) bag then walked out into Camden Street shaking her stuff. This estate has always had drugs. At about 12 o'clock (smack o'clock) the estate is over run with smack-heads looking for their dealer, it is very funny. Now we got prostitution, YAY! Now i aint got nowt against working girls (when ya homeless, on the street, you look out for each other, well some of us), i just found it funny how "small business" follows "big business". Seems our little normal street is fast becoming the in place to be.

things i do before i die

i went to a friends wedding a few years ago and the biggest thing that struck me about it was the ritual of it. We all arrived at different time, standing around, you know chatting (i hadn't seen any of them for bout 7 years). i had some shoes that were to small for me so i took um off (yep i was at me mates wedding barefoot). The 2 friends that were getting married were Grezza & Ness and they had hired "Ness Gardens"

so it was all outdoors, nice like. It was just that when the actually ritual got started i noticed... like a cloud come over everyone. There was deffo some kind of "magic" in the air. Here is a pic of us, the witnesses to this ritual:

Neither Grezza or Ness believe in a god so religion played no part in this wedding. Back in the day the "leaders" just needed a way to control the "followers" and they spotted the human leaning towards rituals and religion was born. Religion is just a tool one uses to keep oneself in bread. No it was more a sense of Human magic. Like us quietly standing there witnessing this gave it a power in the world, like nature stopped to watch because we did.

What got me thinking about rituals is the case of "Zacarias Moussaoui", one of the chaps (who got caught) involved in the 9/11 attacks. It struck me why are they going through this court case, he admitted it. Put him in a room with all the relatives of the humans killed, give them all a wooden spoon and let them "have at him" until he is a pink pulp. That's what they want to do and yet there is this strange "ritual" of the "flight recorded box" tapes getting played, the questions, the playing back of the mobile fone calls to loved ones of the victims. What to fuck is this ritual for, i can see nothing that it is for. Just kill the cunt, that's what they wanna do. This way seem dishonest, as if having the ritual make it then OK to take his life. We kill, that is all we do.

i have always believed that human existence is built on a culture of death (we are the only species that knows we are going to die). i like to postulate that if you look around the room you are in now and say look at a... red cup or a poster on your wall, i can say (believe) with some certainty, that something had to die so that cup can be red. Somewhere in the manufacturing process a lifeform from this Earth had to die for the inks that make up that poster (paper=dead trees). Every single thing we do, something that when through the sheer "white hell" of birth has to die.

Just kill the cunt, kill him dead, rip him apart with your fucking hands. Yes we are going to die and yes we are killers, just get the fuck on with it.

We do rituals for the whole of our lives to keep our minds off the glaring specter, just off sight, of our own death. Is this court case part of the "entertainment" thing we do, we entertain our minds with laws, music, wars, societies, books, films and all the rest of the human crap to take our minds of our own fucking death. We are so obsessed with our death that it seeps into everything we do. "Little Death obsessed Blood Monkeys" killing, killing away. There really is no law and you can do what the fuck you want, but whatever you do, don't do it in the name of religion, don't do it in the name of society, just fucking do it. What do ya know, del.icio.us have a very tool to put ya del.icio.us links on ya web-site/blog. It's called linkrolls, a little script you put in ya web-site/blog template and ya latest del.icio.us links are there in ya blog, how fucking cool is that ?

It sort of gives ya readers a insight into where you are at the moment, what you are looking at and where ya head is at. Go and look in me sidebar and below me blogroll you'll find my 50 latest links (i could change it to my 100 latest links or my 1257 latest links, whatever).

i had a funny day today, nothing weird just things conspired to make me happy (: i woke up from a dream of a place that i seem to have entirely created (i'v dreamt of it a few times). A beach with explory rocks/caves on the right end and a seaside village at the other end. It's always sunny and the sea is aqua. i think it's based on Borth, but Borth is such a scrotum of a place i don't know how i got from there to it. I may have even been there. i even know all the land behind the beach (maybe i should write stories about it). Anyway i woke from this with a feeling i really should visit the sea and pigeons and a magpie that lives round our way (i saw him as a kid hanging round with pigeons, like learning how to get food and stuff) shouting at me to get out of bed and go somewhere, i when to get some bread. On the way back (just by me house) loads of seagulls were make a right ruckus, nice like (: Another sea reference. OK i got to go to the sea. The only sea we got round er' is the Thames, so off me pop:

On the way back, crossing the road by the Savoy, i saw a couple who seemed to be in the just got together/playing games time. Well he ran across the road, seeming to race her, she fanning annoyance. i saw this and it made me laff, she saw this and knew what i found funny and it made her burst out laffing. When she caught up with her B-friend she turned round and beamed me a massive cheese grin.

So that was my mission today, to make this stranger smile. I don't know why London wanted the lady to laff but i don't care, i just do what London tells me (:

Half Of Corporate PCs Can't Run Vista

If you want to get Windows Vista when it comes out, you probably should be thinking about new hardware, according to the research firm. It estimates that about half of corporate PCs aren't powerful enough to run the forthcoming operating system.

this makes me very happy as the streets of London are going to be full of top-end (top-end now) PCs. Upgrade madness is good for the "Skip-Rat". So if ya fancy a new PC, just keep ya eyes out :D

Firefox+del.icio.us+Foxylicious=happy

i have multiple PCs in my place (Windows PCs, Linux PCs, an Apple and a Laptop) they all have Firefox on um. When i back-up my bookmarks with Firefox on the different machines i start to get a lot of bookmarks.html files (bookmarks.html is the file Firefox creates so you can import them back into Firefox, maybe on another PC). Well this isn't good is it ? I think i'v found a nice way to keep all my bookmarks up to date on every machine with del.icio.us and some other tools.

ingredients:
Firefox (just put down that IE now)
a del.icio.us account (it's free)
the del.icio.us Firefox extension
the Foxylicious Firefox plugin (this is the good bit)
maybe del.icio.us loader initially (to get your bookmarks into del.icio.us)

This is my del.icio.us page. You can tag all your bookmarks with more than one tag but as you can see i only tag um with one tag, this is the clever bit. As you can also see i use "tag bundles" (click settings then under experimental). My "tag bundles" are: AV, art, bit, blog, fun, hard, info, etc, those will become the "folders" in my Firefox bookmarks (you'll see). It may take a bit of time if you already have a lot of bookmarks in del.icio.us to get them set up with just one tag each and in tag bundles, i just got drunk and did it watchin' telly. Everything done and installed Foxylicious.

Foxylicious is under the "Tools..." menu. Just put ya username and password in and use the settings below. Then just click "Update Bookmarks". Now it may seem like it's doing nothing, just give it a bit of time... a bit more... then it should work and all your bookmarks are imported from del.icio.us, nice.

Foxylicious can be a bit "odd" about what it imports, some of the tags may be missing when you import. As a tag can belong to more than one tag bundle i made a tag bundle called "missing" and added them to that and what do ya know, it imported them. Bit buggy but it worked, i then just "Manage Bookmarks..." in Firefox, move the missing tags to where they should be and delete the missing folder.

you can see how the bookmark "folder" hierarchy relates to my del.icio.us hierarchy, easy.

i don't even bother saving my bookmarks into Firefox (Ctrl+D) anymore. i just click the tag button:

and when you type the first letter of one of ya tags a little "auto complete" menu pops down, it's so easy. Now i know all me bookmarks are safe and i can import um any time i want thanks to the very useful Foxylicious (i love that pic of the fox), enjoy.

flickr is a site to share your photos online. You can also post photos to your blog from flickr. If you have a Yahoo account, you already have a flickr account as you can login using your Yahoo username and password.

YouTube is a site to share your videos online. When you upload a video you get some code so you can embed the video in your blog or web-site.

del.icio.us is a site to store all your bookmarks/favorites online. A very nice tool is Foxylicious which lets you import your del.icio.us bookmarks into Firefox.

blogger is a site you can post your thoughts to (an online diary). Pictures, video, text can all be posted on your blog. Basically it can be your very own web-site.

skype is a program you install on your computer to make free "phone calls" over the internet to other skype users. Pay a bit of cash and you can use "SkypeOut" to call real (offline) phones.

MySpace is a site for... who knows what MySpace is for. Everyone seems to hate MySpace, but everyone seems to have an account.

With your Google account you have access to alot of Google goodies, GMail, Google Maps (Google maps on your site), Google Pages (make a basic web-site) and loads more useful stuff.

Frappr is a site to put you on the map, basically it lets everyone know where you live. Lots of web-sites have a "put yourself on our Frappr Map" button to let them know where you are.

eBay is a site that lets you sell your stuff online.

PayPal is a site that lets you make and receive secure payments over the internet. Works well with eBay.

deviantART is an online art community which lets you share your artwork online with others.

Wikipedia the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. If there isn't a entry on a subject you know about, you just make one. How nice is that.

Technorati is a site that searches blogs, get yourself an account so your blog is included.

Newsvine is a site to read, write, and discuss the news. Think you've got a news story, go here and post it.

FeedBurner is a site that sorts out all your RSS feed, be it for your blog or your podcast.

box.net is like an online 1GB hard-disk, so you can get to your files from anywhere in the world.

BlogRolling is a one-stop linklist manager for your blog or journal. On a site you wnat to add a shortcut to on your blog, just click on the button on your Firefox toolbar and in the popup window just add the link, easy.

Day 3 ~ Tate Modern (wot na pix)

HAHA near the end a security guard came up to me and told me (all polite like) to stop filming, he was OK, then this other security guard (plain clothes, maybe he was head of security) came over and (trying to sound mean) said "NO PHOTOGRAPHY", i just burst out laffin'. What was he going to do, Art me to death.

Me mem-card ran out just at the top of the escalator (where all the painting are), but that was OK, it won't spoil it for when you go to the Tate (: It was while i was lookin' at the paintings that a guard spotted "Shirt Cam" and radioed to all the others, and it wasn't even filming. You did get to see "Rachel Whiteread's white boxes" which was nice. OK that's the "dangerous" one over with (i was hunted down the whole time), tomorrow i'll get back to nice things.
